The German Federal Training and Education Assistance Act (Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz – or BAföG for short) is the key to equal opportunities and educational justice in the German higher education system. The Studierendenwerke have been commissioned to implement the BAföG by the Federal and State governments – and they campaign for its continuous improvement. It aims that a degree in higher education is open to everyone, regardless of an individual’s social or financial background. Unfortunately, BAföG is rarely available for international students.
In the social welfare advice of the Studierendenwerke, international students get help on all options to finance their studies.
